Iranian ‘Animal’ to head to Usak Filmfest

‘Animal’ is to vie at International Usak Winged Seahorse Short Film Festival in Turkey.

Ark brothers’ latest directorial experience ‘Animal’ is to vie at the seventh edition of the International Usak Winged Seahorse Short Film Festival in Turkey.

The short will represent Iran alongside six other films made by various successful Iranian filmmakers.

The 15-minute film is about a man who wants to pass the border illegally; so he hunts a ram and decides to escape disguised as the animal.

Produced by Iranian National School of Cinema, the film has so far gained several awards and nominations from prestigious international festivals, including the second prize of the 2017 Cinéfondation Festival de Cannes.

It has also won a prestigious award from the 40th edition of the Denver Film Festival in the US.

After becoming an awarded film festival and receiving the reputation as the most ideal film event amongst the short film artists in Turkey, the Usak Film Festival became an international powerhouse by having official selections of Cannes, Berlin, Venice, Toronto competing alongside with Academy Award Winners for the Winged Seahorse Awards.

The 2020 edition of the festival is slated for December 12-20, 2020.
